Benefits

Improved scar appearanceReduced scar width or visibilityRelief from itching or tightnessImproved skin textureTailored surgical and non-surgical planLong-term scar management support

Scars are a natural part of the healing process, but some can be disfiguring, uncomfortable or functionally problematic. Scar revision encompasses a range of surgical and non-surgical techniques to improve the appearance, texture or symptoms of a scar, including hypertrophic scars, keloid scars, wide or stretched scars, and depressed scars.

Mr Thacoor will assess your scar carefully and recommend the most appropriate treatment — which may include surgical excision and re-closure, Z-plasty or W-plasty to reorient the scar, steroid injection, or a combination of approaches.

What to expect

  • Most scar revision procedures are performed under local anaesthetic as a day case
  • Careful suture technique to minimise tension on the new scar
  • Post-operative scar management advice and follow-up
  • Final result assessed at 12–18 months
